July 2024

Several airports in Asia, including those in China, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, India, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, and Thailand, experienced major delays and suspensions in their online processing systems as a result of the global Crowdstrike IT outage last month. 

Thai AirAsia (FD) maintained its position as the regional leader with an OTP of 78.35%. This was a decrease of nearly 7 points compared to June’s OTP of 85.19%. Don Mueang International Airport (DMK), a hub for Thai AirAsia, ended the month with an OTP of 79.32%. Similarly, this was a decrease of nearly 4 points from last month’s performance of 83.28%.

Singapore Airlines (SQ) came in second place after achieving an OTP of 77.29%, an increase of nearly 3 points from previous month’s OTP of 74.53%. Singapore Changi Airport (SIN), a hub for Singapore Airlines, turned in an OTP of 71.37%, more than 2 points decline from its performance of 74.11% in June.

    June 2024
    In June, Thai AirAsia (FD) is this month’s leader with an OTP of 85.19%, up nearly 2 points over May’s performance of 83.55%. Thai VietJet Air (VZ) took the second-place position with an OTP of 78.93%. This was a near 6-point increase over its performance last month (73.01%). Don Mueang International Airport (DMK), a hub for Thai VietJet Air, ended the month with an OTP of 83.28%, an improvement over May’s performance (82.05%).  

    AirAsia (AK) maintained its third-place position from last month with an OTP of 77.80%, a 5-point decrease from 82.94% in May. Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL), the main hub for the airline, concluded the month with an OTP of 71.24%. Similarly, this was also a 4-point decline in performance from May (75.24%).

    May 2024
    On-Time performance (OTP) remains the true measure of passenger satisfaction and an airline’s operational efficiency. Airlines and airports in the region continue to show remarkable performance in April and a formidable contender in the battle to win traveler loyalty.

    In May, Vietnam Airlines (VN) led the region with an OTP of 85.11%, a 3-point improvement over last month’s OTP of 81.85%. Noi Bai International Airport (HAN), a hub of Vietnam Airlines, turned in an OTP of 80.57% following a 7-point improvement from April’s OTP of 73.18%.

    April 2024
    AirAsia (AK) is this month’s leader in Southeast Asia after achieving an OTP of 85.48%, up from 85.33% last month. Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL), a hub for AirAsia, witnessed a near 2-point decrease (79.19%) and ended the month with an OTP of 77.62%. Indonesia AirAsia (QZ) maintained its position in second place despite the minimal decrease and recorded an OTP of 84.86%. Meanwhile, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK), concluded the month with an OTP of 66.94%, down by nearly 9-points compared to last month’s OTP of 76.83%.

    March 2024
    Singapore Airlines (SQ)
    remained the leading carrier in Southeast Asia with an OTP of 88.31%, a 4-point increase over February’s performance. Changi International Airport (SIN), the main hub for Singapore Airlines also concluded the month with an OTP of 81.59%, which was a 6-point improvement over last month’s OTP of 75.57%. Indonesia AirAsia (QZ) finished the month in second place and with an OTP of 86%, a near 3-point increase over last month’s OTP of 83.10%. Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK), a hub for Indonesia AirAsia and Garuda Indonesia, achieved an OTP of 76.83%, which was a 3-point improvement over last month’s OTP of 73.47%. 

    February 2024
    Singapore Airlines (SQ) has been ranked as the new leader in Southeast Asia, based on the most recent On-Time Performance report for February. The airline’s OTP of 84.12% is an improvement over the previous month’s performance. Indonesian airlines displayed a strong force in the rankings this month, with Indonesia AirAsia (QZ) coming in second place with an OTP of 83.10%. Since October 2023, the low-cost airline has successfully maintained its position in the regional ranking and has just recently obtained its highest placement this month. Garuda Indonesia (GA), Indonesia’s flag carrier, achieved third place with an OTP of 81.09%.

    January 2024
    Philippine Airlines (PR) led the region with an OTP of 86.85%, marking a near 4-point increase compared to December’s OTP of 83.08%. AirAsia (AK) came in second place with an OTP of 83.98% followed by Vietnam Airlines (VN) with an OTP of 83.85%. Singapore Airlines (SQ) secured the fourth place with an OTP of 82.96% this month. In contrast, Thai AirAsia (FD), which dominated the region last month, dropped to fifth place with an OTP of 82.82%, a minor 1-point decrease from the previous month’s performance.
