Will travel levels recover for the July 4th holiday?
SUBSCRIBE TO ON THE FLY
We look at Washington DC-area airports to assess travel levels over the July 4th holiday.
The first eight days of July will have almost as many seats flying from Washington, DC, as there were in the comparable period before COVID-19.
Independence Day will fall on a Monday this year, making it easier for Americans to take a three-day weekend. In 2019, it fell on a Thursday, implying the need to take a four-day weekend.
In any case, across the full July 4th holiday period, Washington-area airports should be roughly just as busy as they were pre-pandemic. Fun fact: The three busiest markets (by seats) to Washington this July 4th holiday period? Atlanta, Boston, and Orlando.
NEXT WEEK: Delhi vs. Mumbai – which is India’s top airport?
