London, 26 January 2023: Following the release of Cirium’s On-Time Performance Report for 2022, Delta Air Lines has been named the most punctual North American airline in both the Mainline and Network categories.
The airline recorded an impressive 83.63% punctuality within the North America Mainline category and 83.95% in the Network category, as it maintained a successful performance from the previous year.
For the second year in a row, Cirium also presented the US carrier with the Platinum Award for Operational Excellence, in spite of an incredibly complex operating environment.
This independent analysis takes into consideration a carrier’s on-time performance, operational complexity and its ability to limit the impact of flight disruption to its passengers.
An award presentation took place on January 25th and 26th during Delta LEAD 2023 Conference at the Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, to mark their outstanding achievements.
The LEAD 2023 Conference brought together 6,000 employees from Delta’s leadership team from across the company to discuss the airline’s objectives for 2023. This two-day conference set the tone for the year, discussing the airlines finance, operations, people, customer experience (CX) and listening to external perspectives.
Jeremy Bowen, Cirium CEO, presented Delta’s awards to Ed Bastian, CEO of Delta Air Lines along with five frontline staffers representing all who make on-time performance a reality for Delta. Mike Malik, Cirium Chief Marketing Officer, and Lydia Webb, Cirium Marketing Director, were also in attendance.
Also in attendance and participating in a CEO panel were CEOs from Delta’s JV partners; AeroMexico, LATAM, Virgin Atlantic, AirFrance/KLM and Korean Air.
Jeremy Bowen said: “At Cirium we have a team that is passionate about airline operations. Many have decades of airline experience; we understand the complexity and challenge of getting people to their destinations safely and on-time. Ramping back up operations so quickly after an enforced slowdown is not easy to do and the top-ranked airlines in Cirium’s 2022 On-Time Performance Review deserve their recognition for this well-orchestrated achievement”.
Congratulations to Delta Air Lines for its excellent performance in Cirium’s 2022 On-Time Performance Review, as well as for its success in North America, getting its passengers to their destinations on time as the sector revived during 2022.
Jeremy Bowen
This marks a winning streak for Delta Air Lines, who previously were North America’s most punctual Mainline and Network airline with an 87.80% and 88.05% punctuality score respectively.
