London, 18 January 2023: Following the release of Cirium’s On-Time Performance Review for 2022, Iberia has been named Europe’s most punctual Mainline and Network airline.
Iberia Express has also been awarded alongside their parent company, ranking 3rd in the Europe Mainline airline category.
An award ceremony took place at the Fitur 2023 – International Tourism Trade Fair in Madrid, Spain, to mark their outstanding achievements.
Cirium’s Chief Marketing Officer, Mike Malik, presented Iberia’s award to Javier Sánchez-Prieto, Chief Executive Officer of Iberia, and the Iberia Express award was presented to Carlos Gómez, Chief Executive Officer of Iberia Express. Rafael Jimenez Hoyos, Head of Production, Iberia, was also in attendance.

Cirium data in the 2022 On-Time Performance review showed Iberia achieved 85.87% punctuality within the European Mainline category and 86.60% for Europe Network.
Meanwhile, Iberia Express recorded an on-time performance score of 83.80% for the Europe Mainline category.
Addressing the representatives of 17,000 Iberia employees in attendance, Iberia’s CEO thanked those involved in the day-to-day operation of the airline and for all their efforts during the recent turbulent environment of the aviation industry.
Javier Sánchez-Prieto, Iberia CEO, said: “Punctuality is the most evident symbol of the cultural change in Iberia and the good labor climate that we have maintained over the last eight years. Together with the good performance of Spanish airports, the commitment of our employees has been key to reaching this milestone in a particularly difficult year in the European and US airports where we operate”.

Carlos Gómez, Iberia Express CEO, said: “We are truly committed to punctuality, and it is a great honor to have been named Europe’s third most punctual airline and the most punctual low-cost airline in 2022, during a year filled with challenges, but in which we have also achieved great milestones such as this one. An achievement that undoubtedly belongs to each and every one of the people who form part of Iberia Express.”
The Spanish airline was also recognized in Cirium’s 2021 OTP report ranking 5th for Europe Mainline (OTP of 90.30%) and 3rd for Europe Network (OTP of 91.74%).
Iberia Express were also highly successful in 2021 achieving 2nd place for Europe Mainline (OTP of 91.81%) and 2nd place for Europe Network (OTP of 91.81%).
